As I mentioned in a previous post, “To Onagawa and Beyond,” our team has been praying for open doors to do ministry in the nearby town of Onagawa. Slowly but surely God has given us opportunities to hold several events in temporary housing units, participate in several town festivals, befriend workers at the Onagawa Tourism Association office, and build relationships with local small business owners and residents.
In the past few weeks our team has been offered the use of a piece of land in Onagawa…for free! When we went to see it for the first time, all we could say was, “Wow!” The verse that came to my mind was Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” The land is rather high up and overlooks the town – it would be so clearly visible to all who enter Onagawa.

The story of how this came to be is totally a God-thing. We are still praying often about the logistics and many other details. Our team has gone to check out several trailer models – the hope is to put up a trailer on the land to be used as a community space to bless the people of Onagawa. Mrs. T. would like to also put up a small cafe on the same plot of land. More updates to come later but it’s amazing to see God opening doors in such unexpected ways. We’d appreciate your prayers!
