It’s been a very busy past few weeks as we adjust to parenthood. We praise God that our daughter is growing by leaps and bounds and is clearly one super extroverted baby! She thrives on meeting new people and seeing new things. Having a baby gives so many opportunities to meet up with friends. How Japanese people love to fawn over gaijin (foreign) babies!
Here are a few photos of Sophie’s first few weeks:
Sophie and her proud mama
Sophie being fawned over by our friends from Onagawa
Being held by our friend at the local nursing home
While at the local drug store, a random lady came up to us and asked to take her photo because she thought Sophie was so cute!
We are also thankful that our team’s trailer house is now complete! It took a while to get electricity, gas, and running water but now everything is looking great.
Our first team Bible study at the trailer house:
Our new little family posing in front of the trailer:
Andy sharing with Christian volunteers from southern Japan about our hopes for the trailer house:
Teammate Chami sharing about the Megumi Project – we hope to employ locals to make various products made from kimono fabric.
We look forward to a grand-opening party this Sunday the 25th – we’ve invited lots of our friends in Onagawa and Christian workers from Ishinomaki. We are very excited to see how God will use this place to be a place of hope and healing for many folks still reeling from the incredible losses suffered from the tsunami.
